About US
Tammy & Mark Betson
We are a married couple originally from Surrey and Hampshire, we met at Merrist Wood Agricultural College in 1994, we both gradulated with a National Certificate in Practical Habitat Management. But whilst Mark started his career in Conservation Management, I (Tammy) after doing a bit of conservation work, had babies and drifted into floristry and jewellery making.
In April 2010 we moved to North Cornwall.
Here Mark and I pulled together all of our skills we have learnt over the last 20 years and created Tamariska Enterprises (an anogram of our names) and I began attending craft fairs.
We are both believers that you should do what you enjoy. Mark enjoys painting (mainly the landscapes he has helped care for over the years) wood turning which enables him to use his favourite material, woodland management and hedge laying, where as I enjoy making my own unique style of jewellery.
I attend many local fairs in the West Country including Bude, Boscastle, Poundstock, Holsworthy, Eggersford and more and I intend to branch out further to Totnes and Barnstaple in the new year. Selling my silver plated and sterling silver wire jewellery, as well as our greeting cards, paintings and prints and woodwork. I am also a trained and experienced Wedding florist and take on weddings in the local area, please visit Tamara's Blooms.
Mark works part time for the Ruby Country near Cookworthy Forest on the new Ride the Ruby Country Project. Where he is setting up a trial for horse riders, cyclists and walkers to travel along stopping at B&B's, shops and businesses along the way. To find out more visit www.ridetherubycountry.co.uk
We would like to teach others the things that give us so much pleasure in the hope they will give you pleasure too. To find out more about the courses available visit the Crafty Courses page in the online shop.
In November 2011 we moved to Bridgerule in North Devon, so that we could branch out and open a shop in Holsworthy, this we have named T&M Arts and Crafts. The shop is primarily for us to have a base to sell our own produce and so that Mark has somewhere to hang and exhibit his many paintings, but we are also believers in helping other small businesses and so the shop has a variety of handmade produce from the West Country in a 30mile radius of the shop, from knitwear to soaps and bags to candles with more lines being introduced all the time.
The shop has proven to be very popular in Holsworthy offering a new place to buy unique gifts and we hope with all the regeneration work that is squeduled for Holsworthy we have joined the town at the right time.
Its just a small shop but it has bags of character and lots to offer.
